Rettet den BiPOC, queeren & dekolonialen Raum Oyoun & stoppt antisemitische Diskriminierung

Petition: Aufforderung zum Rücktritt an Joe Chialo (CDU) und Susanna Kahlefeld (die Grünen) aufgrund von antisemitischer Diskriminierung und der Ausübung staatlicher Repression gegen das Kulturzentrum Oyoun

Wir, die Unterzeichnenden, sind solidarisch mit dem Kulturzentrum Oyoun, das in seiner Existenz bedroht ist, weil es die demokratischen Rechte einer jüdischen Organisation in Deutschland verteidigt hat. Oyoun, ein antirassistisches, dekoloniales Kulturzentrum, das von BiPoC Menschen geführt wird, versteht sich als Zufluchtsort und eine Plattform für marginalisierte Stimmen und vielfältige Perspektiven.

Am 4.November hielt der mit dem Göttinger Friedenspreis ausgezeichnete Verein “Jüdische Stimme für gerechten Frieden in Nahost” eine “Trauer- und Hoffnungsfeier” im Oyoun ab. Im Vorfeld forderte der Berliner Kultursenat das Oyoun dazu auf, die Veranstaltung abzusagen, da diese “politisch zu brisant” sei.

Oyoun stand in Solidarität mit der “Jüdischen Stimme” und lehnte den subjektiven und willkürlichen Eingriff in die Kunst- und Meinungsfreiheit durch den Senat ab. Daraufhin gab der Berliner Kultursenator Joe Chialo in einer Sitzung des Berliner Senats bekannt, Oyoun entgegen des bis 2025 laufenden Fördervertrags, die Förderung zum Jahresende 2023 zu entziehen. Bleibt diese Entscheidung bestehen, erzwingt sie innerhalb weniger Wochen die Schließung von Oyoun und bedeutet den Verlust von über 30 Arbeitsplätzen. Für einige Menschen würde dies auch den Verlust ihrer Aufenthaltsgenehmigung bedeuten.
Dies geschah, obwohl sich die im Vorfeld durch die Berliner Abgeordnete Susanna Kahlefeld vorgebrachten Antisemitismusvorwürfe als falsch erwiesen und von ihr zurückgezogen wurden. Mit seiner Entscheidung kam der Senat auch den jahrelangen Forderungen von Deutschlands rechter Partei AFD nach, Oyoun die Förderung zu entziehen.

Dieses Vorgehen stellt eine Verletzung des Berliner Landesantidiskriminierungsgesetz (LADG) dar, welches bestimmt, dass kein Mensch aufgrund seiner Weltanschauung diskriminiert werden darf. Es ist nicht notwendig, die Positionen des Vereins “Jüdische Stimme für gerechten Frieden in Nahost” zu teilen, um das Recht auf Meinungsfreiheit der jüdischen und israelischen Menschen anzuerkennen, die sich bei Jüdische Stimme engagieren.

Die Taten Joe Chialos und Susanna Kahlefelds tragen zur Aushöhlung des gesellschaftlichen Dialogs und der kosmopolitischen Werte Deutschlands bei. Der Akt der kulturellen Aggression gegen Oyoun ist nicht nur ein schwerer Schlag für den Ruf Berlins als vielfältige und integrative Hauptstadt, sondern stellt auch einen der schwersten Angriffe auf die künstlerische und kulturelle Freiheit im Nachkriegsdeutschland dar.

Joe Chialo ist sich auch bewusst, dass ein Viertel aller Unternehmen in Berlin zur Kreativ- und Kulturwirtschaft gehören und nennt sie einen “der größten Wachstumsmotoren der kommenden Jahrzehnte”. Diese Unternehmen sind auf das Image Berlins als offene und multikulturelle Stadt angewiesen, um künstlerische und kulturelle Talente sowie internationale Kunden anzuziehen. Die schwere Beschädigung dieses Images durch Diskriminierung und staatliche Repression gegen die Meinungsfreiheit wird unweigerlich zu Umsatz- und Arbeitsplatzverlusten in der Kulturwirtschaft führen.

In Anbetracht dieser Ereignisse und Fakten stellen wir fest, dass Joe Chialo und Susanna Kahlefeld ungeeignet sind, Berlin als weltoffene und vielfältige Hauptstadt zu repräsentieren. Ihr Handeln steht im Widerspruch zu den Grundsätzen der Meinungsfreiheit, der kulturellen Vielfalt und der Identität Berlins und fügt dem Ruf Berlins, seiner Kulturszene und seiner Wirtschaft großen Schaden zu. Wir fordern daher den sofortigen Rücktritt von Joe Chialo als Berliner Kultursenator, den sofortigen Rücktritt von Susanna Kahlefeld als Berliner Abgeordnete sowie die Fortsetzung der Förderung von Oyoun.

Petition: Call for the resignation of Joe Chialo (CDU) and Susanna Kahlefeld (Green Party) due to anti-Semitic discrimination and the use of state repression against the cultural center Oyoun

We, the undersigned, stand in solidarity with the cultural center Oyoun, whose existence is threatened because it has defended the democratic rights of a Jewish organization in Germany. Oyoun, an anti-racist, decolonial cultural center run by BiPoC people, sees itself as a place of refuge and a platform for marginalized voices and diverse perspectives.

On November 4, the Göttingen Peace Prize-winning association „Jewish Voice for Just Peace in the Middle East“ held a „ceremony of mourning and hope“ at Oyoun. In the run-up to the event, the Berlin Senate of Culture called on Oyoun to cancel the event as it was „politically too explosive“.

Oyoun stood in solidarity with the „Jewish Voice“ and rejected the subjective and arbitrary interference in freedom of art and opinion by the Senate. In retaliation, Berlin Senator for Culture Joe Chialo announced at a meeting of the Berlin Senate that he would withdraw Oyoun’s funding at the end of 2023, contrary to the funding agreement that runs until 2025. If this decision remains in place, it will force the closure of Oyoun within a few weeks and result in the loss of over 30 jobs. For some people, this would also mean the loss of their residence permit.

This happened despite the fact that the accusations of anti-Semitism made previously by Member of the Berlin Parliament Susanna Kahlefeld proved to be false and were withdrawn by her. With its decision, the Senate also complied with the long-standing demands of Germany’s right-wing AFD party to withdraw Oyoun’s funding.

These proceedings constitute a violation of the Berlin State Anti-Discrimination Act (LADG), which stipulates that no person may be discriminated against on the basis of their worldview. It is not necessary to share the positions of the association „Jewish Voice for a Just Peace in the Middle East“ in order to recognize the right to freedom of expression of the Jewish and Israeli people who are involved in Jewish Voice.

The actions of Joe Chialo and Susanna Kahlefeld contribute to the erosion of public dialogue and Germany’s cosmopolitan values. This act of cultural aggression against Oyoun is not only a serious blow to Berlin’s reputation as a diverse and inclusive capital, but also represents one of the most serious attacks on artistic and cultural freedom in post-war Germany.

Furthermore, Joe Chialo is aware that a quarter of all companies in Berlin belong to the creative and cultural industries, calling them „one of the biggest growth engines of the coming decades“. These companies rely on Berlin’s image as an open and multicultural city to attract artistic and cultural talent as well as international clients. The severe damage to this image caused by this discrimination and state repression of freedom of expression will inevitably lead to a loss of revenues and jobs in the cultural industries.

In light of these events and facts, we conclude that Joe Chialo and Susanna Kahlefeld are unfit to represent Berlin as a cosmopolitan and diverse capital. Their actions are contrary to the principles of freedom of expression, cultural diversity and Berlin’s identity and are causing great damage to Berlin’s reputation, its cultural scene and its economy. We therefore demand the immediate resignation of Joe Chialo as Berlin Senator for Culture, the immediate resignation of Susanna Kahlefeld as a Berlin MP and the continuation of Oyoun’s funding.
